Tire Pressure:

  • How do I know what is the recommended tire pressure for my vehicle?
    • The recommended tire pressure for your Toyota is listed inside of the owners manual for your vehicle and in your vehicle’s door jam.
  • How do I check the tire pressure on my Toyota vehicle?
    • Most newer model Toyota vehicles have a Tire Pressure Monitoring System that can be accessed on your Multi Information Display. This will indicate the PSI on each individual tire of your vehicle. If you drive an older Toyota that does not have this feature, you can use a tire gauge to check it monthly and when there is a drastic temperature change. Our service team also checks your tire pressure during the multipoint inspection for each visit to our Service Department.
  • Why does temperature change affect my tires?
    • A temperature drop causes the air inside of your tires to condense, taking up less space inside the tire. When temperatures rise the air in your tire expands, taking up more space in your tire. Tire pressure typically moves one PSI per 10 degree temperature change.

Tire Tread:

The tread of your tires depends on the type of tire your vehicles is equipped with. Typically, new tire treads fall somewhere around 10/32 or 11/32 of an inch. According to the DOT, a safe tire tread must be that of 2/32 of an inch or more. If you fall at 2/32 of an inch or less, it is time to invest in new tires.
