I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Toyota of Muscatine, and I urge anyone considering doing business here to be very careful with documentation. I purchased a 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid XSE (VIN ending 3869) on February 26, 2026 and clearly instructed that the vehicle was being purchased under Universal Support, Inc. Despite this, the dealership processed all documents under my personal name using an electronic signature system without clearly disclosing what was being signed. What went wrong The Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin (MSO) and assignment were incorrectly completed, listing me personally instead of the intended organization. I later prepared proper Illinois Power of Attorney and correction documents, which the dealer needed to sign to fix the issue. The dealership has not corrected the error despite multiple requests and formal notice. Real consequences I am now facing This is not a minor paperwork issue. It has caused real damage: I was issued a citation for driving an unregistered vehicle The Illinois Motor Vehicles Department refused to register the vehicle under the correct entity I now face court proceedings, fines, and inability to legally use the vehicle I have spent significant time and effort trying to resolve a problem that originated entirely from dealership documentation errors Current status As of today, the dealership has not provided a corrected title or signed correction form, even though: They have all required documentation The error has been clearly identified The consequences were foreseeable and now have occurred Final thoughts This situation could have been easily corrected early. Instead: There has been lack of accountability There has been delay despite urgency The issue has escalated to legal and financial harm for the customer I am still requesting a simple resolution: Provide a corrected title or sign the Illinois correction form so the vehicle can be properly registered. Recommendation If you are buying from this dealership: ⚠️ Carefully read every document before signing ⚠️ Do not rely on verbal assurances ⚠️ Ensure the buyer name is correct before leaving I hope management takes this review seriously and resolves the issue immediately.
If you like a dealership with zero inventory and if you do not need a car for many months... shop here. Not sure what the sales team does all day, but, they aren't trying to make customers happy. Couldn't buy a car here because they literally could not find me a car. I wanted to support a local dealership.
Went to Toyota of Muscatine and spoke with Jim Greenhaw. Told him what we were looking for and price range. Jim got right on it. Within a week he had found a vehicle to fit our family's needs. I can't say enough as to how professional he was, kept us updated and informed step by step of the buying process. I would highly recommend Jim & Toyota of Muscatine.
I recently purchased a new 2016 4runner. During the buying experience I went to two dealerships getting their bid to decide between the two. I first went to the Toyota dealership in Muscatine because they were closer to my home and I heard good things from a co-worker. After choosing the other dealership (also where I previously purchased a 2013 tacoma) the dealership in Muscatine (Jimmy Greenhaw) became very upset and showing both through email and verbally over the phone how he really felt about me. Hurling sarcasm and insults to my character. Needless to say I will never set foot in that location again. Worst buying experience I have ever had.
Drove a couple hours to see a 2002 Tacoma which I was told the day before, the used car sales manager would not negotiate on the listed price of 8995.00. Frame was new, 4 shocks, 4 new tires, alignment, a number of seals were replaced to prevent fluid leaks, new muffler and exhaust from the cat back. Sounds pretty good right? They knew I was coming to see the truck on the 31st. It was parked outside when I arrived - it was also 5 degrees outside. Moved inside, the work mentioned was indeed done. The problem, the rest of the truck was a disaster. A previous owner drilled a hole in the roof to mount an antenna, which was now removed, but the hole and the mounting bolt remained. The passenger side outside door handle was broken, the door wouldn't open from the outside. There was no jack, the spare - unclear if it would fit the vehicle - was in the pickup bed. The spare compartment below the bed was not functional, I'd have to replace that myself, with a tire/wheel that would fit, and buy a jack for it as well. Both inner front fenders the plastic was badly damaged and not connected. Oh, and the tailgate wouldn't open. Like buying a convertible when the top doesn't work. It's sort of the point of the vehicle isn't it? I was told they'd replace the door handle and work on the tailgate. Why wasn't that done the day before when I told them at noon the day before I was driving 2.5 hours to see the vehicle? All this, and keep in mind they wanted full price 8995.00 for it. Lastly, after the test drive, which exhibited a bad shake at idle in drive and a loose heat shield, it wouldn't restart after I shut it off. I want to point out - Russ - the salesman was a great guy, I had no issues with Russ at all. The preparedness of the dealership, and the pricing by the used car sales manager was insulting. Maybe I caught them on a bad day - maybe not.
